Contemplating the exhaustion test

(Push-ups, Part 1 and Part 2)

The mental anguish of having push-ups ahead of me is enough to get me to correct a pile of papers or empty the dishwasher. With the possible exception of a pull-up, I don’t know if there’s an exercise I dread more than the push-up.

So I am really looking forward to completing my challenge of doing 50 consecutive push-ups. When I started the challenge back in February, I had serious doubts that 50 were possible for me, but now I am starting to have faith.

Today I did 44.

Some stats from this challenge:

  • Number of weeks:  21
  • Number of push-ups: 4,580
  • Percentage increase in maximum number: 528
  • Weeks I have been stuck on “Week 5, Day 1″ (hundredpushups.com): 6
  • Number of other unpleasant chores I have done while avoiding push-ups: 142

Part 4: Collapse one push-up from goal
