{Celebrate your courage. Send me a postcard.}
We finally got our tree decorated this year, only three days before Christmas (better late than never). I had unpacked the ornaments three weeks earlier when I made this video.
10 Favorite Ornaments
1. Abominable Snowman ornament. I was so scared by the Abominable Snowman as a kid, and then so relieved when he turned out to be harmless; I’ve learned the same is true of many scary things. Is this why I love him so?
2. Camel ornament. This ornament, made by my husband’s mom, is so intricate and beautiful.
3. Cowboy riding a cactus. Yahoo! I love this one that my parents picked up out west during one of their many trips.
4. Star of David ornament. One of my boys made this ornament at his preschool. I have always gotten a kick out of putting a Star of David on my Christmas tree, and I like all ornaments made by little kids.
5. Backpack ornament. My husband and I made ornaments for each other for the first 10 years of our marriage; they had to be made from the traditional gift of that year’s anniversary. Oh, young love. How did I ever get him to participate in this? I made this one out of cotton for year two to commemorate our many backpacking trips.
6. Portrait ornament. We have rarely had formal portraits taken of our boys. That ornament Dan is sitting in was so tiny!
7. Cat ornament. My mother-in-law Susan was the most thoughtful person I have ever known. She picked up a set of these ornaments for us when the boys were at the age when they would pull everything off the tree to touch and play with. Play away! They were brutal with these, and they never got a scratch.
8. Chichen Itza ornament. This is another handmade one, made of wood for our 5th anniversary. It marks our trip to Mexico together. My proportions were way off, making for a too-flat pyramid, but no worries.
9. Grandma ornament. My son Dan got this ornament for my mom.
10. Gingerbread family ornament.
I am linking up with Monday Listicles, where you can find other people’s ornaments. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Ok. That Cowboy riding a cactus totally made me laugh! Great ornaments!!
That is amazing that you made ornaments to commemorate your anniversaries. Very cool. Ellen
This are beautiful. Love how you all make them, so meaningful.
Love your ornaments – I have a bunch of very special ones that never made it out of the box this year, but next year, it’s ON.
Thanks. I always procrastinate putting them up, but then I really like seeing them.
