Relaxing the rules on a new link party–join me on Sundays

I have a history of trying to get link parties going, only to have them flop because I make them too complicated. Is that what’s going on with MultiMEDIA Splice?

To make it easier and more inviting, I’m relaxing the rules on the link party.

Relaxed rule: Link up a post that explores the week’s theme (“glass” for Jan. 11) or a multimedia post on any topic.

You get extra credit, though, if it’s a multimedia post on the theme. (That’s the teacher in me coming through.)

I hope you’ll join me tomorrow, Jan. 11, at MultiMEDIA Splice.

Do you like to join link parties? Which ones?

Update: I just came across this post about writing a BHAG, and I realized that my efforts to get this link party going are tied to a “big hairy audacious goal.”

I’ve really wanted to participate more in your link parties! Making multimedia posts rather makes me get my butt into gear and add music/video to the post as well as the usual image and text. My problem is inspiration, and finding a way to merge the theme of the party with the theme of my blog…I need that thinking cap jammed tightly onto my head!
Link party-wise, I don’t link up to many as most of what I’ve found is for crafts/cooking (and my craft blog is rather neglected!)
    Do you join link parties?

Thanks for your thoughts, Kei. I link up sometimes to Mama Kat, Daily Post, yeah write, and some others here and there. I seem to go through streaks of getting into certain types of posts for a while.

  3. Hi Marcie-

Am not ready for multimedia blogs yet (yikes!), so relaxing the rules is good! Thanks.

Even themes as narrow as glass are a little hard, though, since I don’t write new posts for linky parties and have to rely on existing posts. Maybe you could make the categories a little broader??? Just a suggestion…

I want to start a Super Saturday linky party soon and have debated about it being wide open or themed, and it’s a tough choice.!

Thanks for the suggestion, Diane. That makes total sense :). I get a little envious of the link parties I’ve seen that have so many contributors. I think you’re right that a very broad theme (or no required theme) would help. And it probably just takes times and consistency too. Good luck with yours!

This looks like fine and has me thinking but at this moment I have no idea what I might write on this theme. When would the deadline for linking something?

    • Marcy says:

Thanks for your interest, Carol. The post that opens the “glass” theme will be from Sunday, Jan. 11, through Jan. 18. I’d liked to see what you did with your post.
